    The Pasadena City Council recently took action to support or not support the following ballot measures that will be decided upon by voters during the November 8, 2016 General Election.

    SupportProposition 51 California Public Education Facilities Bond Initiative. 
    This measure would authorize $9 billion in general obligation bonds to fund construction of school facilities for K-12 schools and community colleges.

    Support Proposition 54 California Legislature Transparency Act. 
     Prohibits the legislature from passing any bill until it has been in print and published on the Internet for 72 hours prior to the vote

    Support Proposition 56 Cigarette Tax. 
     Increases the cigarette tax to $2.00 per pack. Raising taxes on tobacco products will help prevent people from smoking


    OpposeProposition 57 Public Safety and Rehabilitation Act.
    Allows state officials to release criminals who have committed dangerous crimes not technically classified as violent under state law including rape of an unconscious person and human trafficking.

    OpposePreposition 65 Carry-out Bags.
    Designed to confuse voters on the ban on plastic bags, this redirects money collected from the sale of grocery and retail carry-out bags but is designed to confuse voters to" is incorrect. It's not finished and says Preposition which should be Proposition. And some items are inconsistent.

    SupportProposition 67 Protect California’s Plastic Bag Ban.
    A "yes" vote is a vote in favor of upholding legislation banning plastic bags (SB 270). A "no" vote is a vote in favor of overturning SB 270.


    SupportMeasure A Safe, Clean Neighborhood Parks and Beaches Measure of 2016.
    Provides funding for much needed park enhancements


    SupportMeasure M Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan.
    Improves traffic flow/safety; repave local streets; keeps fares affordable
