The Human Services & Recreation Department provides direct services as well as builds and maintains partnerships with Pasadena’s other human service providers, local businesses, funding agencies and other City Departments to improve and restore the well-being of residents, particularly those with limited resources or at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation.
Current volunteer needs
Recreation – Youth sports, Afterschool, Summer Day Camp, and Aquatics programs (Coaching, Instructors, Lifeguarding and general supervision of youth).
Administrative support- Interview applicants, adhere to state and federal guidelines, update computer, file paperwork, and maintain accurate information. Volunteers gain useful knowledge and experience necessary to compete for an entry level position in a Housing Authority.
Community Service -Facility aide at a community center; outreach and special event worker.
Senior services – Assist with Senior Programs at Community Centers throughout the year or other senior related themes such as assisting with the Senior Commission or the annual Senior Workshop each April. **Some volunteer positions have an age requirement of 16 years of age or older (minor volunteers must submit a parental release & waiver). ***Volunteers must have finger print clearance.
