Community Invited to Dedication of New Ladder Truck at Fire Station 32

The community is invited to a celebration to dedicate a new ladder truck Saturday, March 12, at 4 p.m. at Pasadena Fire Station 32, 2424 E. Villa St.

During the free event visitors will get a close look at the newest addition to Pasadena’s fleet of fire apparatus.

Pasadena City Councilman Steve Haderlein, Fire Chief Dennis J. Downs, firefighters and other personnel will welcome the community to the station, where refreshments will be served. Street parking is available.

The new ladder truck meets National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards for firefighter safety, including an enclosed cab for all firefighters, improved safety equipment for operation in all conditions, more available storage for ladders and rescue equipment, and the safest cab and structural design in the industry. As an added plus, this ladder truck has the lowest maintenance cost per mile in the industry, which will help reduce the overall cost of operating the unit. The total cost was $1,013,652.

Ladder trucks have a typical life span of 20 years. This new one will replace a 1985 ladder truck that no longer meets the safety standards of NFPA.

For more information or to RSVP for the celebration, call (626) 744-7180.
