Fire Retardant To Be Sprayed Around Rose Bowl June 27

PASADENA FIRE APPLIES PHOS-CHEK FIRE RETARDANT JUNE 27 AROUND ROSE BOWL IN PREPARATION FOR FOURTH OF JULY

PASADENA, Calif.—The Pasadena Fire Department will be applying Phos-Chek, a wild land fire retardant to brush areas surrounding the Rose Bowl beginning at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 27.

The Phos-Chek retardant helps keep trees and grassland from burning.  The main ingredients are phosphates and fertilizers which help revegetate burn areas after a fire is out.  Fire retardant like Phos-Chek is one of the main tools firefighters use as a preventive measure and to help contain growing fires in untreated areas.

The Pasadena Fire Department is taking this proactive approach in an effort to mitigate potential hazards during the Fourth  of July weekend and into the summer season.
