"PASADENA IDOL 2012" TEEN SINGING COMPETITION SATURDAY, AUG. 18 AT PASEO COLORADO
PASADENA, Calif.—This year’s “Pasadena Idol” teen singing competition hosted by Pasadena’s Human Services and Recreation Department takes place at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18 at Paseo Colorado. The competition features 20 area youth who plan to sing their hearts out in this exciting, annual talent competition.
The competition will be held at Paseo Colorado’s Garfield Promenade, between Colorado Boulevard and Green Street. The event is free and open to the public. The red carpet walk for contestants runs from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and performances begin at 5:00 p.m.
The winner of this year’s Pasadena Idol competition will receive the Idol Demo Pack, including studio time to produce a two-song demo, 100 CDs, and development of a music video. Prizes also will be awarded to second- and third-place winners.
"Pasadena Idol is a great opportunity for youth to do what they love, just as I once did when it first began a few years ago, and it changed the path of my life forever," said Jesse Flores, the runner-up winner in the Pasadena Idol 2009 competition.
The 20 talented youth chosen to compete for this year’s Pasadena Idol 2012 title were selected from a series of auditions. They have attended two workshops conducted by sponsors and the LA Music Academy to help develop their performing skills and vocal techniques and general understanding of the music industry.
Co-sponsors for this popular event include Paseo Colorado and local production companies Swartz Section, S&C Productions, Mike Towns Studios and Dena Magazine.
