CITY MANAGER APPOINTS NEW HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR
PASADENA, Calif.—Pasadena City Manager Michael Beck today announced the appointment of Kristi Recchia as the City’s new Human Resources Director. Ms. Recchia assumes her new duties effective October 31, 2012.
“We looked very hard to find the right person who can meet the demands of excellence for Pasadena and Kristi brings a tremendous amount of experience and energy for human resources. I’m confident in her abilities to meet our employees’ expectations while also helping us to focus our skills as a customer service organization,” City Manager Beck said.
Ms. Recchia comes from the City of Tustin, Calif., where she has been the City’s Human Resources Director since February 2006 for seven municipal departments. From October 2002 to January 2006, Ms. Recchia was the Director of Personnel Services for the City of Santa Fe Springs, Calif. She also has previous experience in human resources working for the City of Irvine, Calif.
“Pasadena is such a wonderful city, very diverse, with outstanding traditions and a rich history. I’m very fortunate to have been selected to join Pasadena’s team and look forward to serving here,” Recchia said.
She has a master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University (CSU), Long Beach, and a bachelor’s degree from CSU, Fullerton. She is certificated in human resource management from University of California, Irvine and the International Personnel Management Association.
Ms. Recchia was a member of the Employer Relations Policy Committee for the League of California Cities from 2008-2010 and is affiliated with numerous professional organizations in her field, including, among others, the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association, the Public Agency Risk Management Association and the Society for Human Resource Management.
For Pasadena, Ms. Recchia will oversee a department staff of 20 and help provide human resource services to about 1,800 full-time employees across 16 departments. Ms. Recchia was selected from a nationwide pool of 100 candidates.
Ms. Recchia currently lives in Tustin and grew up in the Orange County area. She loves to read, spend time with her extended family, including her two dogs, and she likes to travel throughout the United States.
