DEFENDERS PARKWAY LIGHTING CEREMONY THURSDAY, MARCH 7
PASADENA, Calif.—The public is invited to join Mayor Bill Bogaard, Councilmember Steve Madison and Pasadena Tournament of Roses® 2014 President R. Scott Jenkins in a special sunset lighting ceremony at 6:01 p.m., Thursday, March 7, celebrating the completion of the Defenders Parkway lighting project and the Tournament’s contribution to the project.
The ceremony will be held in the parkway adjacent to Orange Grove Boulevard. Light refreshments will follow the ceremony. Parking will be available on Grand Avenue.
As part of its commitment to Pasadena, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses contributed $56,000 toward the overall $69,707 project costs for nine new walkway-security lighting fixtures at Defenders Parkway. The design of the fixtures is consistent with the other existing neighborhood lighting fixtures and uses LED technology to reduce both maintenance and energy costs.
During the ceremony, City and Tournament officials will unveil a plaque commemorating the Tournament’s long-standing commitment of service to the Pasadena community.
