OPERATION GOBBLE GOBBLE 2013: 11 YEARS LATER & 44,000 PASADENANS SERVED
PASADENA, Calif.—Mayor Bill Bogaard launches the 11th annual “Operation Gobble Gobble” at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, at Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave., to distribute 400 Thanksgiving turkeys with all the trimmings to local community agencies that serve low-income households. Once again, Ralphs Grocery Company and Food 4 Less are generously donating the turkeys along with stuffing, canned vegetables, potatoes, stuffing and pumpkin pie.
“This program has been a blessing to all those served,” Mayor Bogaard said. “I am thankful that for 11 years Operation Gobble Gobble has allowed more than 44,000 Pasadenans to join in the Thanksgiving celebration.”
Bogaard will be joined by Ralphs and Food 4 Less team members, Pasadena firefighters, community volunteers and others to distribute the turkeys to participating organizations, including, among others,: Pasadena Unified School District’s Healthy Start program; Union Station Foundation; Armenian Relief Society; Ronald McDonald House; Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center; Lutheran Social Services; Vista Nova Home for the Blind; El Centro de Acción Social and Elizabeth House.
“Ralphs and Food 4 Less are pleased to partner with Mayor Bogaard once again to help make this Thanksgiving special for many people who otherwise might not have the resources to enjoy a complete holiday meal,” said Kendra Doyel, Senior Public Affairs Manager, Ralphs & Food 4 Less. “At Ralphs & Food 4 Less we believe community matters.”
