Human Services & Recreation Department

  • La Pintoresca Park

    The park is located at 45 East Washington Blvd. (corner of Raymond Ave. and Washington Blvd.). The park has recreation and educational programs for both youth and adults. Special events include a community picnic and the annual Family Fun Day Celebration. Everyone is welcome to utilize the park. Please call Horace Wormely at (626) 744-4724.  All programs are offered on a drop-in basis and are open to all ages. (Children five years and under should be accompanied by a parent or guardian). Adults are encouraged to participate in al programs and activities and volunteers are welcome at all sites.  The parks have several picnic areas which are ideal for family celebrations, company and special events (a permit may be required). In the event of inclement weather, all activities are cancelled. The programs offer seasonal sports such as basketball, softball, flag football, volleyball, and soccer, as well as nature, arts and crafts, special community events, field trips, and just fun!

    Skate Park
    The Skate Park has been very popular with the youth since its opening in July 2002. Proper safety gear (helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads) are required for skating. All minors must have parental consent to use the facility and agree to abide by the rules.

    Summer Program
    Includes basketball, tennis, fitness, golf lesson, and arts & crafts.
    Activities are offered Mon - Fri 2:30-5:30 p.m.
    Tutoring and reading program offered Mon - Thu 3:00-4:00 p.m.

    Computers & Reading Program
    Open to ages 5 to adults.
    Spring Program is held on Tues - Fri 2:30-5:30 p.m. and Sat 12:00-4:00 p.m.

    Summer Enrichment Program
    Activities include summer reading club, rap sessions, athletic competitions, swimming, arts and crafts, table games, and field trips. Program is open to boys & girls ages 6-13. Ages 14-18 may participate as a volunteer Recreation Leader.
