Giveaway-A-Day in May

And the winner is… All of us! Through a fun giveaway this month, PWP is promoting water conservation to help all of us keep this potential water shortage under control.

Celebrating Water Awareness Month, PWP will be awarding one lucky customer every day with a brand-new smart sprinkler controller worth $400. The devices save hundreds of gallons of water each year by automatically adjusting a home’s irrigation schedule based on plant needs and the weather. The controllers also shut off the sprinklers whenever it rains.

The drawing is open to any current residential water customer whose sprinkler system is run by a traditional timer. Customers can enter online at www.cityofpasadena.net/savewater or by calling 744-6970 to request an entry form. Winners will be notified by mail and posted on the web site throughout May. The 31 lucky customers will then attend a “winners circle” workshop to gain expert knowledge on how to program and operate their new controllers for maximum efficiency.

Whether or not you win, you can still qualify for a $160 rebate from PWP when buying your own smart sprinkler controller. (You must now reserve water rebate funds online before your purchase!) You’ll also feel like a winner when you attend any of PWP’s free lawn & garden workshops, which continue this spring and summer. Customers can learn tips for growing healthy trees and shrubs with less water on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to noon; find out about water-smart gardening on Saturday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to noon; learn the best techniques for efficient irrigation on Thursday, June 18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.; or explore California Friendly® landscaping basics on Saturday, June 13 from 8 a.m. to noon. All classes will be held at the Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle, 960 E. Walnut St., and reservations are required at www.cityofpasadena.net/savewater.
