Go Beyond Books at Pasadena Public Library

Stay on top of the latest movies and technology with help from Pasadena Public Library.

First, duck into the new Exploration Station in Central Library’s Great Hall East, the second of 11 beta sites nationwide awarded 3M Cloud technology. There, you can learn about cutting-edge electronic and media devices, explore the library’s eBook and digital media collections via Overdrive and the 3M Cloud, and learn how to download eBooks and digital media onto your own computer, smart phone or tablet. No late fees, no damaged books, no processing fees – it’s all in the cloud! For details, visit www.pasadenapubliclibrary.net or call 744-4066.

You can also stop by Central Library’s north entryway or Hastings Branch Library, 3325 E. Orange Grove Blvd., to access new self-serve DVD boxes. Similar to Redbox, you can use your Pasadena/Glendale library card to check out classic movies and new releases for up to a week. The Central Library media box holds more than 1,440 DVDs and Hastings’ holds 770!

One of just three similar systems in the U.S., the 3M media boxes were funded by a grant from the California State Library via the U.S. Library Services and Technology Act. Check them out!
