Vital Records (Birth and Death Records)

The Pasadena Public Health Department's Vital Records office maintains records of births and deaths that occur in the City of Pasadena.

NOTICE - Fee Increase

Effective January 1, 2013, the fee for certified copies of California birth, death, and fetal death certificates will increase by $2.00 each, in accordance with Assembly Bill 1053, which was chaptered on October 2, 2011.

Note: Displayed fees are for applications received in person. Additional charges are applied for certificates requested by mail and express service.

Birth Certificates

Applications are accepted (click on link below for instructions):

• by mail  
• in person 

Birth Certificates are $23.00 per certified copy.

Pursuant to California State Code 103650 the fee for any search of the files and records for a specific record when no certified copy is made shall be paid in advance by the applicant. If a record is not located, the fees for the birth record will be retained as payment for a record search.

Death Certificates are $16.00 per certified copy.
