  • TELL YOUR STORY WRITING CONTEST

    Pasadena children and teens grades 3 – 12 are invited to submit their original short story of how they or a family member came to America. The stories can depict a family tale (true or fictionalized) or explore the topic of what it means to be an American. All winning entries will be prominently displayed at Pasadena Central Library and featured in a Pasadena Public Library publication and online. Winners will be announced Tuesday, March 24. Winners and runner ups will have the opportunity to read their stories at 2015 One City, One Story Day, Saturday, March 28, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.  First, second, and third place winners will also receive a gift card. Entry deadline: March 16, 2015 

    Contest Guidelines:

    • Open to children and teens grade 3 – 12.
    • Stories must be 500-2000 words, writer’s choice, and must be legibly hand written or typed.
    • Stories must be original and the students own work.

    • Stories may be submitted to any Pasadena Public Library site or emailed to Jane Gov at jgov@cityofpasadena.net.

    MY FAMILY STORY ART CONTEST

    Pasadena children and teens grades 4 - 12 are invited to submit their original artwork for the One City, One Story Art Contest; a single frame illustration depicting your family story or what it means to be an American. All winning entries will be prominently displayed at Pasadena Central Library and featured in a Pasadena Public Library publication and online. All participants, their families and friends will be invited to a special reception honoring their work at One City, One Story Day, Saturday, March 28, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Original art work will be returned to the artist. Entry deadline: March 16, 2015. 

    Winners will receive free tuition to a class at Art Center College of Design! (up to $400 value).  

    Contest Guidelines:

    • Open to children and teens grades 4 -12.
    • Single frame illustration in pencil, pen, ink, or paint depicting your family story or what it means to be an American.
    • Size can range anywhere between 8” x 10” to 22” x 28.”
    • May be submitted to any Pasadena Public Library site.
    • Entries will be judged based on creativity, technical skill, and execution
