2012 Summer Reading Club - Dream Big... READ!

It’s time for children 12 and under to dream big at the Pasadena Public Library!  Stretch your imagination and have an amazing summer as you read, visit your local library, enjoy amazing programs, and join in fun activities. 

How to Dream Big with PPL…

• Visit your local library any time starting Saturday, June 9, to pick up your free summer-reading starter kit.
• Write down the books you read—or that someone reads to you—and bring your reading record when you visit the library.
• Each time you visit, you’ll receive a sticker that will count towards two special prizes during the summer.  Prizes will be awarded at your 3^rd and 5^th visits while supplies last.

There are so many fun reasons to Dream Big at the library this summer…

Kick-off your summer reading with Luce Puppet Company’s imaginative “Wizard of Oz” Show!

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Oz with Dorothy and her friends in this creatively staged production filled with courage, brains, and heart. Enjoy this timeless tale told with traditional rod puppets.

Pacific Animal Productions

Learn about the huge jobs that animals do every day. From seed planting to sanitation, we will bring some of the biggest dreamers of the animal kingdom.

Thursday Tunes and Tales

Join us every Thursday in July as PPL presents outstanding Children’s storytellers and musicians at 10 a.m. at the Central Library and in the afternoon at one of our Branches. Perfect for Children ages 5 and up.

• David Cousin, juggler, has performer all over the United States and even overseas. This summer he’s bringing his unique and amazing juggling to Pasadena Public Library.

• Barbara Wong, story teller, returns with her tales from Asia and Hawaii. These magical stories, full of humor and wisdom, are age-old yet still bring delight and wonder today.

• Ina Buckner-Burnette, the Sunshine Storyteller, weaves movement, songs, poetry and international tales to create her special brand of sunshine stories.

• Jeff the Great - gags, juggling, magic and more, returns for a summer show that defies description but is fun for all ages!

Scavenger Hunt

Every child under 12 can participate in our scavenger hunt. Find one special item at each Pasadena Public Library branch, get your special ticket initialed, and, when you’ve visited all 10 sites, bring it in for a prize (while supplies last).

Storytimes and Shows!

Each branch will offer storytimes and programs for children of all ages that help them “Dream Big” at the library.
