The Building & Safety Division provides plan review and construction
inspection services to enforce minimum standards to safeguard life or limb,
health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design,
construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance
of all buildings and structures.

New! Starting January 1, 2017, the new 2016 California Building Standards will be in effect. The standards consist of the Building Code, Residential Code, Electrical Code, Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code, Energy Code, and Green Building Standards Code. All projects submitted on and after January 1st will need to conform to the 2016 codes.

There are certain new development and redevelopment projects that require the design and implementation of post-construction controls to mitigate storm water pollution, prior to completion of the project(s), through the development of an Low Impact Development (LID) Plan.
